Golden Age Exhibition
What is Golden Age?
A.k.a Golden age of Islamic Civilization is the period between the Seventh to the Fifteenth centuries. During this period, a lot of emphasis was placed on pursuit of knowledge. Besides studying religious texts, many eminent Muslim scholars and thinkers have also excelled in studying subjects like Mathematics, Geography, Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry and Medicine etc. Consequently the contributions from Islamic Civilization have had a considerable effect on the renaissance that subsequently occurred in Europe
People of Golden Age
The Islamic Empire encompassed people from different faiths including Arabs, Persians, Turks, Africans, Indians and other Asians. Scholars from all faiths worked under one umbrella to produce immense scientific knowledge which is the foundation for the Modern Science and Technology that we witness today.
George Sarton, an iconic figure in the discipline of History of Science wrote, ‘From the second half of the eighth to the end of the eleventh century, Arabic was the scientific, the progressive language of mankind. It is suffice here to evoke a few glorious names without contemporary equivalents in the West: Jabir Ibn Haiyan, alKindi, al-Khwarizmi, al-Farghani, al-Razi, Thabit ibn Qurra, al-Battani, Hunain ibn Ishaq, al-Farabi, Ibrahim ibn Sinan, al-Masudi, al-Tarabi, Abu ibn Wafa, Ali ibn Abbas, Abu-l-Qasim, Ibn al-Jazzar, al-Biruni, Ibn Sina, Ibn Yunus, al-Karkhi, Ibn alHaitham, Ali ibn Isa, al-Ghazzali, al-Zarqali, Omar Khayyam’
